Illegal tourist housing has been raising more than a few eyebrows and keeping Town of Canmore staff busy the past few months, but an answer to how to accommodate visitors seeking housing out of the normal brick-and-mortar hotels and motels appears to be on the horizon.

Spring Creek has broken ground on its sixth condominium building, called White Spruce Lodge. A ceremony took place on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The project was launched in September, and 20 of its 49 suites — almost 50 per cent of the total — sold in just 72 hours. As of this week, only 20 suites remain with construction expected to wrap up Fall 2019.
