Luxury condo project in Calgary’s oldest neighborhood now taking applications for new mural

Calgary, AB – AVLI on Atlantic announced today the launch of its private art project aimed at beautifying the community around its near-complete seven-storey condominium building in the heart of Inglewood.

Applications are now being accepted for works of 2D or 3D art from Alberta professional artists that will reflect and celebrate the community of Inglewood. The winning application will be awarded up to $40,000 to create their unique work of art.

“Alberta has some of the best artists in the World and we think sponsoring a mural is a good investment for the building and area,” says Brian Kernick, president of Greenview Development. “We seek to create a work of art not just for residents of Inglewood, but for all of Calgary to enjoy.”

Applications will be evaluated by an expert committee, who will narrow submissions down to three finalists. Finalists will be awarded $1,000 each to create a rendering or model of their project, which will be put on display for public feedback at the AVLI sales centre located at 1201-10th Ave. SE. The committee will then review public feedback, and make their final decision.

AVLI on Atlantic was designed to be a work of art inside and out. Local and award winning architectural firm Sturgess Architecture, known best for designing the Glacier Skywalk at the Columbia Icefields in Jasper National Park, designed the exterior of the building. Interiors at AVLI were designed by Jerilyn Wright of Jerilyn Wright and Associates, an award-winning interior design firm and one of Inglewood’s and Calgary’s most-celebrated interior designers.

“Our only direction to potential artists is that the art project reflect Inglewood and its connection to the Arts” says Kernick. “Our selection committee represents a wide range of artistic expertise and community members to create an artistic legacy for the community.”

The deadline for applications is March 11, 2019 for full details please visit http://avlicondos.ca/art
