Spring Creek’s Tamarack Lodge sells 60 homes in two months

Newest mountain lodge located next to amenities rich central square being planned for community

December 19, 2019 – CANMORE, AB. Spring Creek, Canmore’s premier neighbourhood, continues to see strong demand with its recent release of sales at The Tamarack. The Lodge is now 75 per cent sold out after an opening weekend in October where 50 per cent of the project’s 80 homes were sold.

With 80 condominium suites, the four-storey Tamarack is Spring Creek’s largest residential development to date, valued at more than $50 million. It’s the fourth lodge to come to market in the community in three years.

Helping drive the new building’s early success was pent-up interest in the ability to use a residence for short-term rentals in Canmore, says Ross Jansen, director of sales, Spring Creek Real Estate.

The Tamarack is one of only a few developments to currently possess Tourist Home permitted use through the Town of Canmore. This designation allows condominiums to be used as either a permanent residence or for short-term stays.

Homes without this zoning rented for terms shorter than 30 days may face a fine starting at $2,500, says the Town of Canmore.

“We heard many of the people who purchased with us at The Tamarack tell us how attractive this flexibility is,” says Jansen, of the Lodge’s Tourist Home use. “Considering the number of people who visit Canmore from all over the world, having one of these beautiful condominiums to rent for a few days or a few weeks, is a smart investment. We’re proud that our homeowners will have this luxury.”

White Spruce Lodge, which also has this zoning, was released by Spring Creek in 2017 and sold out faster than any lodge in the community.

For those not interested in vacation rentals, the Jack Pine Lodge has homes available and has some of the nicest view lines in the community. It will be completed in 2020. Homes have a spa-inspired ensuite, rock fireplace, oversized gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, upgraded finishings and hardwood floors in all living spaces. Amenities include: garden hot tub, underground heated parking and geothermal heating and cooling.

Rachel Lee, who bought a condominium at The Tamarack, was attracted to its multi-purpose potential.

“This is a gorgeous community and we will be spending a lot of time here,” Lee says. “When we’re not at Spring Creek, it really adds value knowing we can use our condo as a rental.”

Lee also singles out the elegant finishes, which are nature-inspired, and appealing building amenities as factors in her decision to buy there.

“The look and feel of these homes is something special,” says Lee. “We were pleased with how elegant the interior features are.”

The Tamarack, which will boast ground floor commercial development, includes a fitness space steps away from a jacuzzi, hot tub and spa area. The lodge is split into two distinct wings, with the Lofts at Tamarack on one side and the Residences at Tamarack on the other. Floor plans range from 720 to 2,331 square feet, including both single and two-storey formats, with one, two, and three-bedroom orientations.

Construction on the Tamarack will start in early 2020, with first possessions expected for 2022.

As the community continues to take shape, Spring Creek has unveiled plans for two integral features: The community’s grand entrance, and The Beat, the central square of Spring Creek.

Suites in the Lofts at Tamarack overlook The Beat, an amenity-rich central square with patterned pavement, unique street furniture and more than 15,000 square feet of street front commercial space. This expands Spring Creek’s amenity rich neighbourhood which already includes street level retail and existing shops and services including, Stonewaters Home & Gift, Spring Creek Cellars, The Mineshaft Tavern, Stirling Grill & Lounge, The Pulse, Evergreen Salon & Spa, The Malcolm Hotel and the Canmore Opera House.

Centering the square is a beautiful landscaped park, highlighted with a pond that will become a skating rink in the winter.
