$39 Million Creekstone Mountain Lodge ramps up construction to meet demand

Canmore, AB – While Calgary saw a 12.3 per cent decrease in home sales, Canmore is bucking the trend with a 20 per cent increase. With strong demand construction is moving forward on Creekstone Mountain Lodge as the foundation is now complete and wood framing is about to begin.

The lodge is Spring Creek’s fourth and most luxurious condominium building and is located at the heart of Canmore featuring southwest exposure and unobstructed views of Mount Lawrence Grassi, Ha Ling Peak and the rugged Rundle Range.

Developer Frank Kernick says, “Creekstone Mountain Lodge is an exciting project and the first multi-family condo project in Canmore to start since the recession. Spring Creek plans to redefine luxury living within the energetic community in the heart of Canmore.”

According to CREB’s July 2016 Statistics Package, released August 2nd, Calgary’s July sales saw a decline of 12.3 per cent with 1,746 sales compared to July of last year’s 1,991.

Canmore however, has seen an increase in sales. Sotheby’s International Realty reports that July was the busiest month for sales in Canmore with 55 transactions compared to 39 in June and 40 in May. MLS listings show that real estate transactions in Canmore are up 20 per cent with 284 transactions as of July 31st compared to 228 last year.

Spring Creek is seeing the effects of the strong market. According to stats collected by Spring Creek there have been 15 residential apartment condo resales over $500,000 in Canmore this year-to-date and seven alone were in Spring Creek. This number doesn’t include six recent sales at Creekstone Mountain Lodge which is continuing forward with its pre-sale process.

Many buyers are returning snowbirds who are cashing in US properties to return to Canada.

“My wife and I love Spring Creek. We enjoyed living in our Spring Creek condo and knew how great of an investment it was. We now rent out our condo and are happy living in a Creekside Villa townhome,” says Jim Muir, “It has a lot to do with the lifestyle. It’s so easy to walk downtown and the view from our deck is spectacular.” Jim is president of Clique Hotels and Resorts and will also be working with Spring Creek to develop the Malcolm Hotel.
