June 29, 2020, KELOWNA, B.C. – For the first time ever, the Georgie Awards were held online, in a virtual format in Vancouver on June 26 and hosted by Todd Talbot, co-host of Love It or List It Vancouver.

Online or virtually, the reality is Central Okanagan home builders and renovators won three awards with Kelowna-based Bellamy Homes bringing home two awards.

“For our members to win three Georgie Awards is more great news as we just had a record number of winners of National Awards. The quality of work that our members provide is being recognized across the province and the country,” says Daniel Winer, Executive Officer, CHBA Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO). “With Vancouverites moving up to the Okanagan in swarms, it is fantastic, and well deserved, exposure for our members.”

Celebrating the Best in BC across a wide number of Home Builder and Renovator categories, the Georgie Awards are hosted by the Canadian Home Builders Association of BC (CHBA-BC). The CHBA-BC altered this year’s format due to ongoing restrictions on public gatherings and following the Association’s responsibility towards ensuring public health and safety during this pandemic. The black-tie gala and awards show usually involves 600 industry professionals, government officials, and industry partners.

The CHBA-BC promotes industry best practices by acknowledging excellence through its provincial awards platform. This gives builders an opportunity to showcase their projects’ quality, and durability.

The Georgie Awards® offers nearly 50 award categories with new and exciting additions every few years. The award categories are grouped in six focus areas: Residential Construction –  New; Residential Construction – Renovation; Interior Design, Merchandising and Landscaping; Sales and Marketing; Special Achievement Awards; Grand Georgie Awards®.

Winer continues, “CHBA-CO builders are a cut above their peers. Whether it’s a new build or a renovation, always ask if your home builder or renovator is a CHBA member .”

CHBA-CO is the regional voice of the residential construction industry in the Central Okanagan. It represents more than 250 members and is part of an affiliated network of nine local home-building associations located throughout the province. The industry contributes over $23.1 billion in investment value to British Columbia’s economy creating 158,000 jobs in new home construction, renovation and repair. One in five employees in British Columbia work in the home-building industry.
