Kerkhoff Construction uses PR to sell 50 Homes in Kelowna

Social media engagements increase ten times with media coverage posts

CALGARY, AB and CHILLIWACK, BC – Kerkhoff Construction saw a boost in registrants and a ten-time increase in social media engagements with public relations according to data released today by dHz Media.

The developer engaged dHz Media to conduct a four month public relations campaign for its $60 million project, 1151 Sunset Drive, project in Kelowna, BC. With the help of PR campaigns, the downtown condo project was able to sell 50 per cent of its inventory at its initial sales event as more than 50 homes were sold. The project has since sold an additional 21 homes and is now 70 percent sold.

Research conducted by dHz Media and Luxury Homes (LH) Digital, its social media and digital partner, showed that followers on Facebook had significantly higher engagement levels with media links than with non-media posts. Over the course of four months, social media posts created from media coverage generated by dHz Media on the projects’ Facebook account were monitored by LH Digital.

The analysis was conducted of non-boosted and boosted posts of media links compared to non-media media links. One example compared a non-boosted media link from Kelowna Now about the 1151 Sunset Drive to a post about a music festival in Kelowna. The media link reached twice as many people and had ten times the engagement compared to the music festival link.

Boosted (paid) posts compared media links to non-media links showed that a media link featuring an article in Kelowna Now reached 1,300 more people and had 100 times more engagement than a post linking the Kelowna art gallery.

The objective of the PR campaign was to assist 1151 Sunset Drive with building up a list of interested buyers (registrants) before the opening sales date by promoting the project’s key messages with earned media.
