The community electric car stolen from the Mantra construction site has been found
Calgary, AB – Four days after it was reported stolen, Marda Loop, has found its Mantra. Following the May long weekend, Mantra, a four-storey condominium building located at the corner of 21st Street SW and 35th Avenue SW had its construction site broken into and thieves took off with several tools and the electric Smart Car the community is using for its home owners.
“We received a tip from an undisclosed caller on Friday, telling us that our Smart Car was spotted near the old Children’s Hospital on 20th Avenue SW,” says Zee Zebian, director of sales and marketing for the Mantra project. “After contacting the Police and then a tow truck, our Mantra Car was returned with relatively little damage. We’d like to thank the City of Calgary Police Department and the media for helping us when our Mantra went missing.”
As it is fully wrapped with a Mantra logo, Zebian was hopeful that it would be found, “It doesn’t exactly blend in, but we worried it was being undressed in a chop shop somewhere.”
While the car has been found, the thieves have not been and the company is reviewing its security cam footage from the night of the theft in the hopes of identifying the thieves. Located in Calgary’s Marda Loop neighbourhood, the Mantra condo project is being developed by Castera Properties and Groupe Denux. It has started construction and is scheduled to be completed in December 2019.
The historic Marda Loop district with its trendy neighborhood of bars and restaurants is quite lively but Mantra is located on a quiet side street. The development’s security team is currently review security camera footage and hopes to develop a few leads.
