First residents share experiences living at new community

Penticton, BC. Skaha Hills introduced a new housing concept to the Okanagan that sold out in one day this summer. The resort style community announced today that it will be launching another release of its Terraced Ranchers in spring of 2017.

The newest design located in The Vistas neighbourhood has been a hit with new home buyers featuring large private outdoor space and individual garages typical of a single-family home.  All homes at Skaha Hills, are designed to maximize views so homeowners can enjoy spectacular panoramas spanning from Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake and Okanagan Falls.

Having launched its community only two years ago, Skaha Hills has now sold 118 homes, 51 homes are occupied and 47 more are about to be completed. There is only one home left in the second release of 47 single family homes and the first release sold out in 2014.

The first residents of Skaha Hills have been living in their homes for a year and have had the opportunity to experience the community as its quickly coming together.

“It’s been exciting watching the community grow in such a short time.” says Brent Carson among the first homeowners to begin living at Skaha Hills, “The aftermarket service we have received from Skaha Hills has been excellent and we really appreciate everything that went into getting us settled in our new home.”

At full build out, the master planned community will consist of approximately 600 homes, a clubhouse with fitness facilities, pool, hot tub and lounging deck. Other amenities will include walking trails, off leash dog parks, secure RV and boat storage, along with easy beach and golf course access on a connecting paved cart path.

PLAY Estate Winery, the $5.2 million winery and vineyards at the entrance of the Skaha Hills community, which had its grand opening on June 3rd, has been busy since its opening and has garnered positive feedback from its customers. The winery is owned and operated by Canada’s largest hospitality company Stage West and has been a hit with residents.

Brent and his wife Franca say they love living in Skaha Hills. “The views are spectacular and we really enjoy have the winery right there. It’s a great spot for lunch or dinner and the wine is excellent” says Brent.

This harvest marks PLAY’s first on site crush for its six wines. PLAY has created three white wines: Ad Lib, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, a Moscato and a Viognier. Its red wines include a Syrah, Improv, a Merlot, Syrah blend and Applause, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

The Skaha Hills Development Corporation is a partnership between one of the Okanagan’s most successful builders, Greyback Construction, and the Penticton Indian Band Development Corporation (PIBDC), a for-profit corporation owned by the Penticton Indian Band. The success of Skaha Hills is a credit to the Penticton Indian Band’s long-term vision to stimulate economic growth for the region through strategic partnerships with local businesses and the City of Penticton.
