Popularity of luxury resort soars due to region’s emerging destination status and variety of homes
PUERTO ESCONDIDO, OAXACA, MEXICO Vivo Resorts, located on a 21-kilometer stretch of beach in Puerto Escondido, Mexico has announced annual growth of 350 per cent from August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017.
Founded by former Canadian Olympic downhill skier and World Cup champion, Cary Mullen, Vivo Resorts attributes its growth to the emerging popularity of the region and the variety of resort homes on offer.
“Oaxaca is an emerging destination known for its authentic, off the beaten path appeal,” says Mullen, “Puerto Escondido was selected as the location for Vivo Resort due to its investment potential and its ideal spot on a pristine stretch of beach at the southern tip of Mexico. It has the best climate with warm consistent temperatures, low rainfall, and low risk of hurricanes.”
Flight volume to Puerto Escondido airport has risen by 300% in five years and this trend is expected to increase from 185,000 air passengers in 2015 to 1.1 million by 2025. Over the next 10 years the population is expected to grow by 50 per cent and more than $50 million has been set aside for infrastructure, upgrades and development.
According to the Government of Canada, an estimated 50,000 Canadians are living full time or part time in Mexico. While U.S. Department of State says one million Americans are living full time or part time in Mexico.
Since building its first condo building in 2012, Vivo Resorts has built 120 homes and offers luxury vacations for travellers and provides rental management for owners wishing to generate income from their Vivo home. In 2016, UK-based Luxury Travel Guide named Vivo Resort, Mexico Luxury Resort of the Year.
To date, Vivo Resorts has built 10 private homes and 110 condominiums. It offers a wide variety of home and condominium options appealing to all types of home buyers, including empty nesters, family vacationers, retirees and young couples. At full-build out there will be 114 private homes and 400 condominiums.
“By offering a wide range of price points for Vivo beach homes we expected a positive reaction from the marketplace, but have been amazed at the resort’s growth this year,” says Mullen. “The different types of home owners all seem to have one thing in common and that’s their attraction to high build quality, great value and a luxury resort experience in an authentic and less commercialized location.”
Currently seven condominium buildings are sold and completed with a ground-breaking expected for the 8th one, Laguna Condominiums, this month. The Laguna Condominiums are a collection of 16 condos and 4 penthouse suites, priced between $455,000 and $489,000 USD. The building is currently 75 per cent sold.
Vivo Resort’s ninth and fastest selling building is the Marino Residences, released in June 2017, with 50 per cent sold in just six weeks.
